Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry Annual Report 2018
The AOA started the Registry to improve the results of joint replacement surgery in Australia. The registry was established in 1999 becoming fully national in mid 2002. Information on hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle and spinal disc replacement is collected from all hospitals in Australia undertaking joint replacement surgery. This year the analysis was undertaken on 1,603,846 joint replacement procedures (694,730 hips, 849,329 knees, and 59,787 shoulders) reported up to the end of 2019.
